Pretty Girls' 3rd Birthday

It's hard to believe, but our little girl is now 3!!!! Where has the time gone??? It literally seems like just yesterday she was born and now she is a sassy, funny, loving little girl. The baby in her is gone. She is all little girl now. She LOVES dresses and shoes. I foresee a lot of money being spent on shoes in the coming years. She loves princesses and Sophia the first, dolls and all things girly.

We had just cake and ice cream at our house to celebrate and invited M's family over. We celebrated with my mom the Saturday before.

Pretty Girl picked out her own cake and of course it was a Frozen cake. I fully expected her to get a Princess one, especially seeing as she was pretty set on a Sophia cake, but once she saw the Frozen one, she changed her mind. It really turned out cute.

She really enjoyed opening her gifts as well. Daddy helped her. She loved everything she received this year, as always. She is a VERY loved little girl.

Overall I believe she had a great 3rd birthday. It's still hard for me to wrap my brain around the fact that she is now 3, but she will tell anyone who will listen how old she is. She is too cute and mommy and daddy love her whole bunches!

Thanksgiving recap

Oh Thanksgiving. I can't believe you have come and gone so quickly.

This year M decided he wanted to host Thanksgiving at our house. Which is not a problem with me as it would be only his family attending. The decision was finally made on Wednesday that it would be at our house and the time, as well as what everyone was responsible for. Let me tell you, having other people bring stuff, helped out SOOO much! Any who. I cleaned literally almost all day on Wednesday and most of the morning and afternoon on Thursday. I did the dishes about 5 different times between the two days and I swear if I don't clean or do dishes for the foreseeable future, I'm ok with that. I have never cleaned so much in my life and I must say, our house looked amazing! I wish I had taken pics, but I was a little busy running around like a chicken with my head cut off.

We had about 17 people in attendance
2 turkeys (one baked the other fried)
3 different kids of stuffing
4 bags of mashed potatoes
4 different kinds of bread
a cheese tray, a pickle and olive tray
Spinach dip
gravy
sweet potato casserole
deviled eggs
green bean casserole
3 different kinds of pie

Holy cow did we have food left over!   I'm kind of left-overed out, but we still have some turkey left. I might make dinner with it tonight and be done with it.

Whew!

It was a good day, busy, but good. We also went out black Friday shopping after dinner. M and I both got ourselves a few things we wanted for Christmas and a few things for the kids. mainly it's fun to watch people get all bent out of shape in Wal-Mart. Lord. some people are just crazy! We were done and back home by 9 and just hung out with M's sister and her boyfriend.

It was a nice holiday. We ran a few errands on Friday and then spent the rest of the weekend being lazy. it was really nice. I made peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for dinner last night :) and I don't feel bad about it. I only had to wash a knife and two cups :) I call that a win.

Do you go black Friday shopping? Can you believe how crazy some people get about the deals?

3 weeks until Christmas vacation! (But who's counting?) :)

Life Lately with a bullet post

In the style of Jenn, I'm doing a bullet post. It seems to be the best for an update. :)

  • I only work two day this week! Woo Hoo! I'm looking forward to some time off work
  • M has been working a lot and has been gone a lot. It feels like he's preparing for a deployment, but he's not.
  • We still don't have plans for Thanksgiving yet :/ The planner in me is going a little crazy. I'm getting our house in order, just in case and we have a turkey, just in case.
  • Pretty girl will be 3 on the 15th of December! How is that possible?!?!?!
goofball

  • I have come down with a cold and it's kicking my butt!
  • Pretty girl FINALLY let me put her hair into a pony tail for the first time. She looked sooo cute!
gone are the cute pictures I think :(

  • Pretty girl got a new bike a few weeks ago. She outgrew her tricycle, and instead of waiting for her birthday, we got her one early and she LOVES  it! She would ride it every day if she could.
Her new Sophia bike

  • We still have Halloween candy in our house and I cannot wait for it to be gone.
  • I'm sooooo excited to start getting ready for Christmas time! It's my favorite time of year, but I refuse to start getting ready for it before Thanksgiving is over. One holiday at a time.
  • Of course that doesn't mean I won't put up our tree the weekend after Thanksgiving :)
  • Work is going good, but super stressful and busy. Many days I don't have time to just stop and sit all day.
  • I haven't read a book in over a month and I'm missing it. I have two I want to read, but just haven't found the time.
  • Booger is finally getting the hang of school. Yea!!!!! He is really good at math and loves it. He talks about his three best friends all of the time. Should I be worried two are girls?
  • I met one's mother the other day and she informed me how her daughter REALLY liked Booger. His first crush. How cute!
First school picture. Where did my baby go???

  • I need to start working out again and cut pop out of my diet, but I can't seem to find the motivation to do so. I've gained about 5lbs back since this summer and I'm afraid more will creep on during the holidays. :(
  • Otherwise we are just trucking along. I want to blog more, but finding the time has been difficult. I promise to try harder along with everything else I have to change or fix.

Need some help

Ok everyone, I need some help. Every time I comment on someone's blog using my google account I get an email saying "delivery system notification (failure)" Can anyone tell me why I am getting this and how can I fix it?
I've tried googling the answer and can't come up with anything to help fix it. Thanks in advance!

Second. I got this Chroma color pallet from Sephora for my birthday. Let me give you the back story. I never used to wear make up, unless I was dressing up to go out. Over the summer my friends introduced me to Sephora and I found make up tutorials on youtube (my favorite is Jaclyn Hill)and I'm not hooked. I wear eye make up every day and I'm loving it. I love the fact that it covers up my dark circles and helps make me put more together.
How cool is that?!?! Look at all those pretty colors!

Anywho. Since I got this Chroma color pallet I have been matching my eye liner to my outfit. My question is, is that weird? Like if I'm wearing a pink sweater, I choose the pink eye liner. If I'm wearing blue, I pick the blue eye liner. Sometimes I pick brown or black, but generally I have been matching it. Is that weird?

Thank you in advance for any help you can offer! I do appreciate it! :)

My Birthday Recap

Well, I guess I am a little late on this post, seeing as my birthday was on November 5th. Oops! Sorry! Life has gotten a little hectic for me lately. But without further ado....here is my recap :)

me as a baby on the left and current on the right

My birthday fell on a Wednesday, which is never fun. It was just a normal day, but my phone was blowing up with people calling and texting to wish me a happy birthday. That makes me happier than anything else, just having people acknowledge that it's my birthday. Which everyone did by the end of the day. Both kids were super excited for my birthday, which was nice.

That night my mom made my favorite meal for my birthday. It was chicken casserole and chocolate éclair cake for dessert. The kids and I spent the night at my mom's house (as M was out of town again) just hanging out.

A few friends from work were planning on going out on Saturday and invited me with them. Which I thought was nice seeing as the only time I spend with them is at lunch. Thankfully on my way up to White Buffalo (my favorite country bar) two of my good girlfriends called me to tell me they were going to White Buffalo and I should come with them. Haha! I thought that was pretty funny. Let me tell you I had a BLAST! I danced and laughed WAY too much! It was so good for my soul! I spent the entire night just hanging out with my girlfriends. One of my favorite things about White Buffalo is that you can go there with a group of girls and never speak to anyone else. It's just a nice place to go to hang out with your girlfriends. No sleazy guys coming up to you, actually no guys ever approach our group anyways. Which is just nice.

I'm not good at making faces at the camera....hehe

trying one more time

It was just an overall great birthday. I hate that I'm a year older, but it was awesome to finally get to go out and celebrate my birthday (I haven't done that in about 3 years, not even my 30th)

It would have been nice if M could have celebrated with me, but it just wasn't in the cards for us to be together again this year. Maybe next year.

Do you like going out special for your birthday? What's your favorite thing to do to celebrate?

Happy Halloween

It was another great Halloween!
The kids had a great time and so did I. Booger and Pretty girl both had parties at their schools and had a great day! Who doesn't love a day full of candy and fun?
For me, we had quite a few kids absent and overall it wasn't a horrible day. I even had a Halloween shirt to wear. I should have taken a pic of it because it was really cute and I got a lot of compliments about it. Bad blogger :(
After school, I had to pick up candy to be passed out and dinner of course. The house was cleaned and dinner made and ate. Finally it was time to go Trick-or-treating. The kids could hardly wait! We got them dressed and headed out. We ended up walking over a mile and went down 4 of the streets near us. I was kind of disappointed in the amount of houses that were handing out candy. As well as the amount of people who were actually out trick-or-treating. I remember as a kid there being TONS of people going house to house. This year it seemed like no one was out. Thankfully neither Booger nor Pretty Girl noticed. They had a great time and were pooped out by the time we got home.
Over all it was a great Halloween.

Booger was Optimus Prime and Pretty Girl was Belle

Seeing as I stink at taking pictures this year, I decided I would go through the Halloweens of the past since moving to Florida. :)

First year I was Kitty and went out with people I worked with. It was such a great night!
Top L and bottom L- M and I were Army people the first year we were together, Top R I was a "doctor" and Bottom R is me as a kitty from the first year in Florida :)
Booger's Past Halloweens

Top L- Booger's first Halloween he was Tiger, Middle L he was a Lion, Bottom R- He was Thomas, Bottom L- He was Jake the Pirate and Top R- was this year's Optimus Prime

Pretty Girl's past Halloweens

L- This year she was Belle from Beauty and the Beast; Top R she was a Lion for her first Halloween; Bottom R- She was Cinderella.

Halloween is one of Booger's FAVORITE holidays. He talks about what he is going to be All.Year.Long! It's cute! But trying to convince a 5 year old he has to wait a whole year is quite tricky!

I hope you all had a great Halloween!!!!!

Halloween Pre-Weekend

Ah this weekend was pretty good! M was away at drill, which is never fun, but I made sure to have our weekend jammed packed and in my mind it was pretty darn good. Having M there with us of course would have made it that much better.

Friday started off with M watching the kids while I went to work and had a professional day. That means we attend meetings, input grades, clean the classrooms and plan for the upcoming months. My day was spent with meetings and dealing with the failure list. That is never fun. Ever. That afternoon I had plans to walk with our neighbor and see if we could get her labor started. She was 4 days past her due date at that point. We were not successful, but the hour long walk we had was amazing! It was awesome to relax and just talk about everything and nothing. It did my soul good!

Saturday morning we went to my mom's to swim for the last weekend of the season. The kids loved it. She also made dinner for us. She made meatloaf and baked potatoes. It was yummy!

That night we ended up going to an event at Oscar Shearer State Park. They were having a haunted trail event. We didn't go on the haunted trail, but they did have trick-or-treating for the little ones in a separate place. Booger and Pretty Girl LOVED it and had a great time! Booger even won in the costume contest. :) How cool is that??? We haven't gotten their Halloween costumes yet, so we borrowed some dress up clothes from M's parents house and it worked out perfectly. The weather was chilly but perfect as well.

She is NOT sure about all of this

I can't believe he won in the costume contest!

Sunday was spent at my mom's for a bit, swimming one last time, then it was time to head home, get laundry done and some of Booger's homework done. We finished the night up with spaghetti and a movie.

Overall, it was a great weekend.
Now on to getting all of the things needed for the kids various Halloween/"fall festival" parties coming up on Friday.

Have you done anything Halloween related?

Awesome new charms

I am so excited that we have such awesome new products now for Origami Owl. One of my favorite new additions are the military charms. I have been waiting forever for them to finally come out with them and now they are here. I am using mine in my new lanyard locket with some blue crystals. I know it's a large locket with not much in it, but I haven't had a chance to add other charms to that locket yet. I will have to find some time and see what I have to add. today also marks when our holiday products launch! How exciting is that??? I think it's pretty cool, but I am also in love with Origami Owl. I love being a part of this company!

Pink wrap bracelet with new black twist locket. It also includes my new Army charm and a few blue Swarovski stones

Lanyard Locket with blue face and snowflake window plate

I love the new products they keep coming out with! Some times there are too many to choose from.

What is your favorite Origami Owl product?

What a weekend (sorry it's a delayed post)

**This post was written on October 6th, but I was finally able to get the pictures done and uploaded to add to the post. Sorry for the delay**

Oh my what a great weekend we just had. Let me tell you it has been awhile since I have had such a nice weekend and the best part is we didn't do anything amazing. But it has been awhile and it was awesome.
Our weekend started off on Friday with dinner at a yummy restaurant called Luna's with M's parents and then cards afterwards. Us women won in cards, so that always makes for a nice night :)
Saturday M got up and went golfing with a family friend. I was afraid he would get rained out, but he was able to get a majority of the holes in before it started to rain again. He said he had a good time, which is what is important. While he was gone the kids and I went to lunch with my mom and her new significant other. He seems really nice and makes her happy, so that makes me happy :) It was nice getting a chance to see her and spend some time with her. I miss seeing her.
After lunch I was exhausted, I have no idea why, but I could not function to save my life and thought it might be a good idea to rip my throat out, because it was hurting so bad. Thankfully our children were awesome and played nicely while mommy dozed on the couch. That NEVER happens, but I felt better afterwards.  We had dinner at home and watched movies as a family that night. We all were asleep before 10pm (which is unheard of for us unless someone is sick)
Sunday we had planned to go shopping. Pretty girl can't seem to stop growing and so we needed some new dresses and shirts for her. (Her dresses look like shirts on her now) With the rain on Saturday, we had a cold spell come through. Let me tell ya, when it's 90 degrees with 90% humidity for that long, 72* feels pretty darn chilly. But it was a nice change :) I don't know how long it will last, but I'll take what I can get right now :) I made breakfast that morning (pretty darn good breakfast too if ya ask me) and we headed up to the outlet mall. I was expected a short trip with running into a few stores and getting what we needed and leaving. But let me tell you, my hubby was awesome! We spent a couple hours there and had a good time. :) We got everything we needed plus some. He told me I HAD to buy a pair of reef flip flops, that I would love how comfy they are. Let me tell you, I hated that I had to tell him he was right. But he was! I wore those puppies all over the mall and my feet didn't hurt at all! How crazy is that?!?! I got another pair of work shoes, and he bought me a beautiful watch. I didn't need a new one, but he informed me, watches aren't a "need" item and if I found one I liked, I could get it. How awesome? I love it! Plus you can't go wrong with a little bling, can ya???

Pretty girl got some really cute clothes from Carters and of course new shoes. Her shoes light up and I swear if we let her wear them to bed, she would have. :)
How could I say no to these??? I would probably wear them too if they came in my size :)
Booger got a new Transformer shirt and a new pair of shoes as well.
M of course got a few new pairs of work shoes and did an amazing job not getting annoyed with me and letting me shop and try on clothes. He really was awesome the entire day.
After the mall we headed to Texas Roadhouse for dinner. M has been telling me how amazing this place is for MONTHS. Finally we were up near it and he was awesome enough to take us there for dinner. Let me tell you, he was right! I love Outback, but this place was WAY better! The cinnamon butter on the rolls is just amazing!!! I was pleasantly stuffed and happy. We played cards at his parents house again that night.
Overall it wasn't a spectacular weekend, but it was still pretty amazing. I enjoyed every minute of it (except when I felt I was coming down with strep)

I love relaxing weekends! What makes an amazing weekend for you?

Life Update

I think it's time for a little update, don't you?

We are in our fifth week of school. That means Booger has been a kindergartner for 5 full weeks. Eeekkk! It has been an adjustment, that's for sure. He has received a not so stellar not home once each week. His punishment is to lose the ipad for the night and to go to bed early. Trust me, not getting a movie before bed or to play on the ipad is a killer for him right now. Thankfully after that he's really good the next day. Hopefully he will start to listen and follow directions soon. He keeps making slow progress each week and I am so impressed with how far he has come! :) His teacher is pretty amazing too!

School is going ok for me so far. It's kind of boring because I have everything already planned out from what I did last year. So, I don't feel too overwhelmed at work right now. Which is a blessing and I know it won't stay this way forever, but it's just kind of annoying right now. I've lost about 15 lbs this summer. I feel amazing and was finally able to bring out my old wardrobe from when I met M 6 years ago (and was my skinniest) and let me tell you, it feels amazing!!!! I have about another 10 to go, but I'm happy with my progress thus far. Although I am getting tired of always feeling nauseous after I eat. That has been happening for the past week and I'm just kind of over it now.
Left was me in like April and on the right was last week. Both not flattering pics, but I think it shows some weight loss.

Pretty Girl is quite the two year old. She HATES being referred to as a baby and wants to be older than she is. She is cute, thankfully. But her attitude is going to rear it's ugly head in about 10 years. :( Not looking forward to that.

I am trying out some of the Young LIfe Essential Oils. One of my girlfriends from book club swears by them, so I am hoping they will help our family out. If any of you have used them before, I am open to any and all suggestions :) I feel very overwhelmed by the whole process and knowing which one to use for what.

I am super excited for my Origami Owl business. I LOVE the new products they just came out with. I wish I was independently wealthy so I could buy it ALL! But alas I am not, so I wil have to keep myself in check and wait for some commissions. :)

We had a pretty good Labor Day weekend. We really didn't do much other than relax at home and watch movies, but it was just awesome all of us being together. M has been gone a lot with the military and his job, so having him home for an entire weekend was awesome. Plus he's just awesome! He has been pretty amazing lately and it's been great. He is also an amazing daddy and our two munchkins think the world of him. I LOVE watching them play together and interact. I could watch it all day long. Especially him and our daughter together. It's too cute!

Oh my new car has been awesome with the long drive I have to do each day. I can't remember if I talked about my new car or not. I used to have a Ford Escape. It was my first SUV as well as my first brand new car. It was great, but sucked on gas milage. Speed forward and M's mom got a Ford CMax (their hybrid) and was telling me how great it was on gas milage and how roomy it was. M and I started looking at them, but not very seriously. Then this summer my air went out on my escape and I thought it was time to get a new vehicle. Thankfully M was awesome enough to put some money down on my car so I was able to get the car I wanted with all of the options I wanted. How awesome is that? I was going to settle with the next car down, but thanks to him, I was able to get the one I was drooling over for weeks. Needless to say I LOVE my new car! It doesn't have the amount of trunk space my escape had, but it hasn't been an issue yet. Plus the savings at the gas pump have been awesome!
This is after I got my windows tinted. You cannot live in Florida and now have windows tinted

Let's see....what else is new????

DIY project success!

I sure love it when I want to do a small DIY project and it turns out as good as I expected or better. I am by no means a creative person, but I do love it when I can do something and have it turn out nice.

With Booger being in Kindergarten we get a TON of papers home every.single.day. Let me tell you. We are drowning in papers. So, I was going through Pinterest to find some ideas on what I could do to help out with the massive amount of paperwork. With some thinking and talking it over with M, I came up with an idea and put it together all today.

This is what I came up with :)

I picked up the clear folder holders from Staples (they came in a pack of three) as well as the colored folders. I already had the colored stickers from a previous project. I also used small 3M hooks to hang them on the wall.
I added folder for Booger's paperwork

I used glitter stickers to label each one :)

These are around the corner when you walk in through the garage. I think it will be a great way to keep all of us organized.

How do you keep all of your papers organized?

Baby Shower

No it's not mine. This baby making machine is done. However, I did get to celebrate with my friend and neighbor Heather. Let me just say, it was one of the best baby showers I have ever been to. I had so much fun! I was a little worried about going because I didn't know anyone else who was supposed to be there. But turns out, I actually already knew two of the other guests! Our town is a pretty small town and this shower made me realize how small it really is. This women has a son who is Booger's age and they both went to the same place for speech, as well as being in the same Kindergarten classroom. How cool is that?!?!?!

Even though when I arrived I didn't know who the other women were, they were SUPER nice and welcoming. I am so glad I was able to celebrate with her!

Now my neighbor is a pretty amazing lady. Her and I started really hanging out when M was deployed. We would walk around the neighborhood at least once a week if not more. We also worked out at the Y together. She is the type of friend that you can go weeks or months without talking, then meet up and it's like no time has passed. She used to live literally two houses down from us. But about a year or so ago her and her husband moved, thankfully they only moved two streets away, so we are still able to go for walks and hang out. :) She is awesome because she is a true friend. There aren't too many people in this world I can call a true friend, but she is one I would put on that list.

Her baby shower was beautiful and so much fun! Again, I am sooo glad she invited me!

The day is here.....1st day of Kindergarten!

Today our county went back to school. Which meant I'm back to work full time and Booger started Kindergarten! Holy cow! How is our son old enough to start elementary school??? I have no idea where the time went. I swear it was just yesterday that he was born and so small. Hard to believe 5 years have gone by!

He was so excited to start Kindergarten today. He was actually mad at me last week that he had to go to preschool instead of kindergarten. I am so thankful he was so excited. He got to ride the bus to school and everything.

Pretty girl was NOT happy about Booger going to Kindergarten. She was very sad to see him leave on the bus this morning. She has never attended preschool without Booger. She is not used to having him around. Hopefully she will have an easier time tomorrow when we drop him off tomorrow.

He said he had a great day and was sent a good report home. I am hopeful this will be a great year for him! His teacher seems pretty awesome as well.

He came home starving and exhausted! I'm sure it will be early to bed for him tonight.

Here are a few pics of this morning. Have a great evening!

Big Cat Sanctuary Trip

I didn't know but Sarasota happens to have a Big Cat Sanctuary. Anyone who knows me knows I LOVE big cats! If I could own one, I probably would. But seeing as I can't I will settle for seeing them as much as I can. Thankfully our kids share in my enthusiasm for seeing big cats. I made the mistake of talking to them about it a few days before we were going to go. They asked every.single.day if that was the day we were going to go. The park is only open Wednesdays through Sundays from 12:00-4:00. Talk about the hottest part of the day!

Thankfully a Wednesday came up and the kids and I headed up to Sarasota. I had no idea what to expect, but was super glad to see they still had their 2:00pm show going on. We made it there just in time and found some seats.

First up was a monkey. Pretty Girl LOVED the monkey and still talks about him to this day. Epic fail on the fact that I did not get one single picture of the monkey.

Soooo excited to see the big cats

This is the best I was able to get. Neither one wanted to cooperate

Let's just say it was hotter than heck outside that day. They have a TON of other animals there, but you have to see them outside. Due to them being only open during the hottest part of the day, most of the big cats were sleeping.

It was a neat experience without having to drive all of the way to the Zoo. Both kids loved it and I hope to take them back in the fall when the temps are a little cooler than surface of the moon hot. :) I also a HUGE fan of large cats, so it won't be too hard to convince me to go again :)

Do you have anything like this near you?
