Father's Day Recap

I know this was last weekend, but my recap is better late than never, right? :)
Father's day was spent a little differently this year. M was away at drill this weekend, so I already knew most of Sunday would not be spent together as a family. Usually his unit plans drill for Mother's Day weekend, but this year they did it on Father's day.
M got home around 6pm that night and decided he didn't want to go out to eat. He asked for steaks and pirogues. Thankfully I was already at the store and had everything I needed for the dinner but the steaks. I was a cooking machine. I grilled the steaks (I've become quite a good griller if I do say so myself) and made the pirogues. Everything turned out pretty darn awesome. We spent the rest of the evening just relaxing and watching movies as a family. He needed to relax as he was leaving the next morning for Vegas for work.
All in all it was a low key day. Nothing too exciting.

M hates cards, he doesn't see the point in spending money on them and I didn't know what to actually buy him (from the kids) this year. So, I've been trying to find cute ideas for the kids to make him something for Father's day. I think I did a pretty darn good job this year (not to toot my own horn or anything) :)

This was my inspiration from Pinterest:

And this is my final product. I had to adjust it a little seeing as I couldn't find the frame I wanted to actually replicate the Pinterest one.

The "we love you" are in blue glitter stickers. I love those stickers. :)

These are the pictures I used in the frame. I have to say the kids were awesome with this project. They each picked out their own outfits and were awesome when I was taking pictures. They even enjoyed making their hand prints and picked out the color for their hands.

All in all it was a good day. I would have liked to spend more time together as a family, but the Army had a different idea. Maybe next year we can go more all out for him. To celebrate what an amazing father he is to our two munchkins.

RIP Grandpa English

I have sad news to share today. My Grandpa, my dad's dad passed away yesterday. He has been in poor health for almost as long as I can remember. But he is forever woven into my memories of my childhood.
One of my favorite pics of me and my grandpa.

He is a war vet from WWII. He was on the U.S.S. California when it was hit in Pearl Harbor. He retired from GM in Michigan. He did chartered fishing on Lake Huron and was a HUGE U of M fan. I remember him and my grandma having season tickets to U of M games and getting to attend a few with them. I remember spending time at their condo on Lake Huron during the summers. I always thought how cool it was that they lived literally like 50 steps from the lake.
He was an amazing man and I know will be missed by many. I know I will miss him like crazy and wish he could have seen my kiddos more than just with pictures. But with the distance, it made it difficult.

RIP Grandpa. I hope you are finally at peace.

Happy Father's Day

I just wanted to stop by and say a warm Happy Father's Day to all of the daddy's out there! I hope everyone has an amazing day! M is at Drill this weekend. :(

I also have to say Happy Father's Day to my daddy! He is an amazing daddy and I love him so very much! I just wish I could spend today with him. I am looking forward to seeing him in July though :)

Also, happy Father's day to my husband, M. He is such an amazing daddy, our kids are so very lucky to have such an amazing role model and daddy. I couldn't have asked for a better guy to be a daddy to our kids.

Now it's off to finish up M's Father's Day gift from the kids. :)  I just hope it turns out the way I have it planned in my head. :)

Have a great day!!!!
