The day is here.....1st day of Kindergarten!

Today our county went back to school. Which meant I'm back to work full time and Booger started Kindergarten! Holy cow! How is our son old enough to start elementary school??? I have no idea where the time went. I swear it was just yesterday that he was born and so small. Hard to believe 5 years have gone by!

He was so excited to start Kindergarten today. He was actually mad at me last week that he had to go to preschool instead of kindergarten. I am so thankful he was so excited. He got to ride the bus to school and everything.

Pretty girl was NOT happy about Booger going to Kindergarten. She was very sad to see him leave on the bus this morning. She has never attended preschool without Booger. She is not used to having him around. Hopefully she will have an easier time tomorrow when we drop him off tomorrow.

He said he had a great day and was sent a good report home. I am hopeful this will be a great year for him! His teacher seems pretty awesome as well.

He came home starving and exhausted! I'm sure it will be early to bed for him tonight.

Here are a few pics of this morning. Have a great evening!

Big Cat Sanctuary Trip

I didn't know but Sarasota happens to have a Big Cat Sanctuary. Anyone who knows me knows I LOVE big cats! If I could own one, I probably would. But seeing as I can't I will settle for seeing them as much as I can. Thankfully our kids share in my enthusiasm for seeing big cats. I made the mistake of talking to them about it a few days before we were going to go. They asked every.single.day if that was the day we were going to go. The park is only open Wednesdays through Sundays from 12:00-4:00. Talk about the hottest part of the day!

Thankfully a Wednesday came up and the kids and I headed up to Sarasota. I had no idea what to expect, but was super glad to see they still had their 2:00pm show going on. We made it there just in time and found some seats.

First up was a monkey. Pretty Girl LOVED the monkey and still talks about him to this day. Epic fail on the fact that I did not get one single picture of the monkey.

Soooo excited to see the big cats

This is the best I was able to get. Neither one wanted to cooperate

Let's just say it was hotter than heck outside that day. They have a TON of other animals there, but you have to see them outside. Due to them being only open during the hottest part of the day, most of the big cats were sleeping.

It was a neat experience without having to drive all of the way to the Zoo. Both kids loved it and I hope to take them back in the fall when the temps are a little cooler than surface of the moon hot. :) I also a HUGE fan of large cats, so it won't be too hard to convince me to go again :)

Do you have anything like this near you?

New Look, new name and a new webaddress

I am so very excited about my brand new look thanks all to Amanda at Somewhere Over the Camo and Amanda Dawn Designs. She is amazing and I LOVE everything she has done. I highly recommend her if you want an update to your blog or anything else. She's pretty darn amazing. Go check her out if you haven't already! :)

A lot is going on around here. I have started back to work and I think I'm going to change the focus of my blog to more about me and the kids. I'm not 100% sure what I will be blogging about, but I sure do love my new layout. :)

Happy Wednesday!

We are off to pick up Kindergarten school supplies for Booger. Yup that's right. As of next Monday I will be the mother of a kindergartner. Where has the time gone?????

**Please also note that my webaddress has changed. If you don't use bloglovin' or any other form to follow me, please update your webaddress to www.katbskorner.blogspot.com**

Painting with a Twist

For our June book club we decided to do Painting with a Twist. Let me tell you, I was nervous to do this. I SUCK at anything creative and was afraid my painting would turn out horrible. I am pleased to announce that it didn't turn out too bad.

We were at an offsite location. At a restaurant called Roy's. You are allowed to order appetizers and drinks. Well I took one look at the menu and knew I didn't want to eat there. All of the apps were seafood related and I don't eat seafood. Thankfully we all decided we would just go out to dinner afterwards. Oh thank goodness! :)

It was a lot of fun. But we were at the back of the room so it was hard to see what the guy was doing, but we made up for it with our own commentary :)
Finished product

Book club!!!!!

What the painting is supposed to look like. Mine is somewhat close. I'm happy with how mine turned out, even though I don't like my waves, it turned out better than expected.

Overall I am really glad I was able to go. We all had a great time and a great dinner of Melting Pot afterwards. Another great book club for the books. :)
