This past weekend: cute kids and Jeff Dunham

This past weekend M and I were able to see Jeff Dunham live. We got the tickets plus a hotel room for the night from my mom for Christmas. I was REALLY looking forward to it. Very rarely do we get one night away from the kids, let alone two in the same month. We had a small disagreement about the hotel room. He thought it was silly we were staying away, I thought it was nice. We hashed it out and realized......he thought it was silly because he stays away from home a lot, so he doesn't like to when he doesn't have to. I on the other hand NEVER stay away from home, so it's nice to get away from everything and unwind. Issue solved.
I really enjoyed Jeff Dunham. He is hilarious!!!!! We had nose bleed seats, but it was still neat seeing him live.

Before the show starts

Hard to see but that's Peanut, my favorite character :)
My favorite aunt flew down for the weekend to help my mom watch the kids Saturday morning so we didn't have to rush home. My mom is a CPA, so that means this is her busy time of year and has to work on Saturdays :( It was great getting to see my aunt though. The kids really loved seeing her again so soon! (she also brought a TON of new clothes for pretty girl and Peter Pan the movie for Booger, she LOVES spoiling those little ones)

That afternoon, M and I hung out at my mom's house waiting for her to get home. We decided to make dinner for her to re-pay her for watching the kids overnight for us. It was delicious. We had grilled chicken and steak, wild rice, steamed veggies and bread. Yum yum!

Pretty girl giving Great Grandma some loving
Sunday we pretty much hung around the house. There was a gun show up in Sarasota that we decided to go to. It was much better than the first one we went to a couple months ago. More booths, but the guns were overpriced as well as the ammo. But still neat to see what everyone had.

All in all it was a great weekend. There was some relaxing, some family time and just plain a good weekend.

I hope you all had a great weekend!

Friday Letters 2/22

It's Friday again! I sure do love Fridays!

Let's see......

Dear students: You have surprised me and amazed me at how well you are adjusting to our new way of doing notes. I was afraid you wouldn't participate, but you ARE! I just have to remind you that we can't highlight EVERY sentence in the book, notes don't work that way. But for the record.....great job!!!!

Dear Course recovery kids: I swear you are all lazy. If I'm not watching you, you are busy finding songs to listen to and playing games. I don't think some of you realize you WILL NOT go onto the next grade if this work isn't complete, and news flash....we're half way through the 3rd quarter. Let's kick it into gear please. You all give me quite the headaches these days :(

Dear Jeff Dunham: I really am looking forward to seeing you live tonight with the hubby!!! Two date nights in one month??? Sure, don't mind if I do. :) I just hope you are as funny live as you are on Comedy Central. I'm also REALLY looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow :)

Dear husband: Ok we know what you need to work on, so please can we kick it into gear and get some of this crap done??? Please???
Also, you are AMAZING for staying home with booger all week while he's been sick. I know it's not easy being home all day with a sick kid, but it's been nice for it not to be me. You are amazing!

Dear booger: I love you do death, but you have to stop getting a fever for like 3-4 days every winter. It's not fun. I sure hope you feel better soon!

Dear Pretty girl: Oh my goodness! You make me laugh and scream all within like 2 seconds. Please, please please stop torturing the cat. He won't bite you, but you have to start being nicer to him. K? Thanks! Also, I can't believe you are starting to talk!!!!! Our house will never be quiet again. You are saying "ba ba", "thank you" and "bye". You love all animals and growl or screech at any one you see, whether it's real or in a picture. It's pretty cute. You're pretty darn cute!

Her new hair cut from daddy. I think he did an amazing job!!!!

Well, there ya have it. I hope you all have a fantastic weekend!!!!

3 Day weekend

This past weekend was a 3 day weekend for us. It was nice to have an extra day home with the hubby and kids. We didn't do much, which was kind of nice. We were supposed to go to Sea World with a good friend, but plans fell through :( I was pretty bummed.
Friday night M finally replaced the fan in the kids room. They have been without a ceiling fan for at least 2-3 months now. Their little room does get quite warm, so a fan is needed. Plus it adds a little sound so they don't hear everything that is going on outside of their bedroom and wake up and want to play. Of course Booger and Pretty girl HAD to help daddy. Thankfully no pieces were broken or lost in the process.

Saturday we just hung around during the day, then ran a few errands that night. I did get some cute pics of the kids though.

Pretty girl LOVES our puppy and thankfully our puppy loves her

She was screaming, so we gave her something to play with, go figure an empty cup would entertain her for awhile. :)

Sunday we ended up going to my mom's house. We try to get over there at least once a week. I am over there WAY more when M is not home. The kids love playing over there and my mom loves spending time with them.

Good morning (please excuse my icky hair)

Great Grandma reading pretty girl a story

Monday started off a little rough, but we got through it. My biffle needed to finish unpacking her new house and asked if we could watch her daughter for a while. Of course we said yes. Booger and her played GREAT, as they usually do. We ended up riding our bikes over to the park that is just down the road from us and the kids had a great time.

Haha!

I see you!!!!

Having fun at the park. (You can kind of see her hair cut in this pic)

Oh pretty girl also got a hair cut from daddy Sunday night and it looks sooooo cute! He did an AMAZING job! I will have to try and get a good pic of it. I know I couldn't have done any better than he did.

All in all, it was a great weekend. Can't believe February is almost over. Where is the time going????

Strong Bonds Marriage Retreat

The weekend of the 8th and 9th M and I spent the weekend in Orlando attending our first ever Strong Bonds retreat. I will say I was a little nervous with not knowing exactly what to expect, but I was looking forward to a weekend away with my husband. We really don't go out alone very often, so it was great to do this and get paid for it. :) I was really hoping to learn a few new tricks for our marriage and to be honest I don't feel like I really learned anything. The only useful thing I took away from the weekend was reminding myself to give M a timeout when he gets upset. Giving him time to cool down always makes the situation better. Other than that, everything else they talked about we already do in our relationship. Which was good affirmation that we are doing pretty darn good.
I was pretty disappointed in the main Chaplin. She mostly talked about how she didn't have any kids but that she had two dogs. I should have counted how many times she made that statement, that's how often she said it. Instead of her talking about her marriage and how her and her husband make things work for 30 years, she talked about her dogs A LOT. I was not impressed. I understand children add different problems and challenges to marriages, but I'm not sure how having two dogs, even if they are like your children add the same challenges.
Anyways. It still was a great weekend to get away. I took that Friday off work, which I'm really glad I did. We took Roxie down to M's Grandparents house (they were so kind to watch her), then dropped the kids off at preschool. I'm really glad we were able to drop them off together seeing as we wouldn't see them again until Sunday night. Then we ran a few errands and headed up to Orlando. We got there early, had lunch and checked in to our hotel. That evening the session was short, so we went to Bass Pro (looking for .22 ammo, that you cannot find anywhere) and out to dinner. Nothing too exciting.
Saturday the day was filled with the sessions and they carved out time for us to go on a date that night. We decided to head to Universal because we both wanted to go to the land of Harry Potter. M was able to get his tickets for free, so we just had to pay for mine. We ended up at Universal and found out that it was Islands of Adventure where Harry Potter land really was. Oh well. We rode all of the rides we wanted to. I really recommend the Despicable Me ride. It was hilarious!!!!!! That night we treated ourselves and went to Hard Rock Cafe for dinner. It was REALLY good, and nice to have an adult dinner where you aren't watching the kids or reminding them to eat. We were just able to relax.

View from our table

We shared a yummy shake there and M was kind enough to let me take a pic :)

Sunday they offered a church service and commitment ceremony, but seeing as we've married each other twice, we decided to skip it and sleep in a little. We were done early that day so we decided to head to Islands of Adventure for the day. It was soooo much fun!!!! We both love riding on roller coasters! It was hardly busy at all, beautiful weather and we didn't have to wait longer than 20 mins for a ride. How awesome is that?

So, all in all it was a great weekend away. I enjoyed spending some alone time with my husband, but I was kind of disappointed in the Strong Bonds retreat. Maybe it would have been different if the person in charge of our group was better, I'm not sure. But sadly I was not impressed. :(

Friday Letters 2/15

Time again for Friday letters :)

Dear:

*Students: I swear you will send me to an early grave with how long it takes you to accomplish something. Also if some of you can't start paying attention and stop asking stupid questions that I have JUST answered....I'm just going to ignore you and write you up. I'm done. The amount of laziness is just astounding to me most days. Please find some inner responsibility and some inner motivation.

*School: why do you make me accept late work? It doesn't help the students at all. It only shows them that they don't have to do the work when I assign it because they will be able to do it later. It's not fair for those who actually do their work on time, and it makes more work for me. What are we teaching them by doing this??? Nothing.

*Strong bonds: While I didn't learn much from you, I really enjoyed having a weekend alone with my husband. I will have a whole post about this soon. We really did have a great weekend!

*Husband: While you are not a huge romantic, I still love you so very much. I don't care that you didn't go all out on Valentine's Day, the little things you do for me on the rest of the days are what means the most to me.

*Army wife friend: I'm sooooo sad that we are unable to go to Sea World and that we won't get to hang out again before you leave. :( We should have planned more Olive Garden dates. Hopefully next time you come to visit I won't be working and we can hang out more.

*Biffle: I'm so excited that today is moving day and you are going to be like 3 minutes down the road from me. I am also so happy for all of the great things that have been happening in your life lately. You deserve it!

*Booger and pretty girl: You two are super cute. Although Booger what ever has crawled up your butt and created the bossy, mouthy monster that you have been lately. Please bring my loving little man back. Pretty girl, please stop getting ear infections. I feel so bad for you and hope that you don't have to get tubes, but it's looking more and more likely that you will. You are turning into quite the independent little thing.

Happy Friday y'all!!! I hope you all have a great weekend!

Friday letters

It's Friday so it's time for Friday letters :)

Dear students, ya kinda suck getting the work done I asked of you, granted it might have been too much, but still, come on! Oh and PLEASE tell me you were good for the sub today. I really don't want to come back to my usual crappy note. K? Thanks!
P.s. some of you are sure finding your humor and its been hard to keep a straight face, please stop being funny, I have a reputation to uphold.

Dear husband, I am SUPER excited for this weekend and so glad we are able to get away together. I think we really needed this, or at least I did. I still love you to the moon and back!

Dear mom, THANK YOU soooo much for watching our munchkins. I know they can be a handful, but I swear they are better for you than they are for us. I hope you three have a great weekend!!!

Dear Army wife friend, I cannot thank you enough for meeting me for lunch at Olive Garden! It was much needed!!! I really hope we can work put a trip to Sea World together soon!!!!
P.s. you need to move back down here!!!!!

Dear 689th, my heart breaks for you and the loss of one of your soldiers yesterday. I cannot imagine what your family is going through and I pray for them. I know you all saw more than your fair share of crap overseas. RIP Spc Ganz
(This one hit a little too close to home seeing as this is a soldier in M's unit. It could have been him, I am so grateful that it wasn't and my heart breaks for his family)

Dear strong bonds, please be gentle. Thanks!!!

Have a great weekend!!!!!!

BEST Super Bowl commercial EVER, not best game ever

If you are friends with me on facebook, then you saw me comment and post on this. OMG!!!! Did you all see this commercial??? I literally cried through most of the whole thing. Whoever designed this commercial had someone they loved overseas. It hit on EVERY.SINGLE.EMOTION that comes with having your spouse or loved one deployed and the sheer joy it is to welcome them home. I applaud whomever designed this commercial and LOVE it. Although I can't re-watch it without crying, so watching will be limited. But I did love it.

Other than this one and the Budweiser commercial, I was pretty disappointed this year. The commercials were not funny. I wish they would go back to the ones they had in the 90s. Does anyone remember the Budweiser frogs? Best one ever as well.

The half time show left a lot to be desired. I was unimpressed with her and expected more from her. Lizzie was not impressed either seeing as she fell asleep during the performance.

Doesn't she look so sweet while sleeping? Can't tell that she was SCREAMING her head off for like a half hour before this can ya? Let's pray it's not ANOTHER ear infection and it's only teeth coming in. Our poor baby, anytime she gets a runny nose, she gets an ear infection. I'm afraid she is following in my footsteps when it comes to ear infections. Both kids never show normal symptoms of ear infections, so it's usually me going by my gut instincts as to when to take her in. Sometimes I'm wrong and feel like an idiot at the doc's office, but 9 times out of 10 I am right.

Anyways. I'm not a huge football fan, and neither is M so we don't watch it very often. In the past I generally only watched the Super Bowl for the commercials. This year, because we were at someone else's house, I watched the game. Now I remember why I use to mute the game and watch the commercials. Booorrriiinnnggg. (sorry to those that like watching football)
Anywhooooo it's Monday again and it's back to the grind and back to work. :(
Have a great Monday everyone!!!!

Milspouse First Friday Fill-In and Friday Letters

I love doing the first Friday fill-ins. So here we go!

1. What's one thing in the past month you would have changed?
Probably my eating habits. I have been wanting to lose this weight since I gained it all back and it's not coming off. I know I need to eat better and find the motivation to get to the gym, but it just didn't happen this month :(

2. What was your favorite thing that happened in January?
Getting to see some family I don't see very often. Getting to watch my favorite aunt play with Little L and Princess was just amazing.
Plus getting to see my cousin, who is like a brother to me, and getting to know his new girlfriend was awesome! We had a LOT of fun hanging out with them.

M had to jump in and be silly

I look horrible, but I was also fighting with M to keep his hands out of the pic
3. What are you looking forward to in February?
Hopefully getting to the gym
Seeing my Army Wife friend and have an Olive Garden Date.
Hopefully taking the kids to Sea World
Our upcoming Strong Bonds Retreat
Seeing Jeff Dunham in Tampa

4. What are your plans for Valentine's Day?
No plans as of yet. I am thinking we will either do something special just us or something special as a family. I'm thinking we'll do something as a family and maybe get steaks or something and eat at home. Stay away from the craziness. Plus we already bought little valentine's for the kids. It was M's idea and it melted my heart that he thought to do that.
We've never been big on celebrating the day.

5. What is your best advice for a MilSpouse whose spouse is deployed for Valentines Day?
My best advice would be to find something for either you and some girlfriends or you and your kids to do. Whether you go out to eat, order something in or make something you know they will love.

Now time for Friday Letters:
I had fun doing these last week, so I thought I would give them a shot again.

Dear Students:
Please don't make me regret the recent changes I made to the way we complete our assignments. I hope the individual responsibility and finding your own drive will help you succeed on the test. Please, I beg you, don't make me regret this. I think these new changes could be really cool and fun for you, if you don't blow it.

Dear Government:
I fear that our founding fathers would be so upset with how our government is run these days. Shame on you people, you are NOT upholding our constitution. Again, shame on you!

Dear Husband:
I'm sorry you are not feeling well again. I hope you get over this sickness soon. But I do appreciate you taking care of Little L while he was sick this week. You are an amazing husband and father.

Dear Family:
I am soooo excited you came to visit. I just wish I had been off work so that I could have hung out with you more. But alas our bills need to be paid. I just hope you all come visit more.

Dear Kids:
You two are too dang cute! I love you both with all of my heart and am so proud to be your mommy.
