Got to love Skype

I must say how much I love Skype, even though it can be annoying at times when the bandwidth won't allow us to see the Husband or we get cut off, knowing that he is able to see the kids and be able to hear his voice is so amazing.
We were able to skype while I was in labor with baby E, which was amazing. Being able to hear his voice during this time made it feel like he was a part of the day. It made it a little easier to handle him not actually being in the room with me.
We were also able to skype Christmas morning. He was able to watch little L open all of his presents and again made it feel like he was a part of the day even when he couldn't physically be here.
I can't imagine going through a deployment without the technology that we have today. From skype, to email to facebook, I don't know where I would be mentally if it wasn't for all of it. Not to mention the support I have found through other army wives through the internet has been amazing. It makes it feel like I'm not so alone. Not living on a base sure makes you sometimes feel like you are the only one in the world going through this situation. But I am truly thankful to have the technology we have.
On a side note, baby E is starting to feel a little better. She is still pretty stuffy, but is starting to sound like she feels a little better. I guess all of the sleeping she has been doing has been helping. Let's hope this is the end of the cold and that I don't get it next. :)

Sick Baby

Well, Baby E has her first cold. You can tell she is miserable. I wish there was more I could do to make her feel better. But with her only being two weeks old the only thing I can do is suck out her nose and give her saline drops. Thankfully she sleeps quite a bit during the day, so hopefully that will help her get over this cold quicker.
My dad just left this morning and I am nervous about doing all of this on my own. I was able to handle just little L on my own, but I'm not sure how I will do with having two kids. Hopefully I will be able to handle all of this. I guess we will see.
I sure can't wait for my husband to come home. I always knew how much he helped with little L when he was an infant, but there is a huge hole in our life and home without him here.

Holidays

Wow! Who would've thought that this holiday season would be so hard? Baby E is now two weeks old and has her first cold, little L is having a hard time sharing mommy, so things are pretty interesting around here.
One thing that made this holiday season so hard was not having the husband home. It also didn't help hearing about other families that were able to spend the holidays with their soldiers. Don't get me wrong I am really happy for those who's soldiers came home early, but I can't help but be jealous that mine is still over there and in harms way. I feel silly being jealous of those families, but I just can't help the way I feel.
The husband is doing as well as can be expected over there. We are anxiously awaiting R&R and having him home for two whole weeks. I fear though that saying good-bye the second time is going to be harder than it was the first time.
I will be happy once this holiday season is over and life is moving on. I'm not quite sure how I'm going to handle both kids by myself once my dad leaves and my mom isn't able to be at my house all of the time. I know many people raise two kids by themselves all of the time, but I am not superwoman and I'm afraid I won't be able to handle it.
On a good note, baby E is able to hold her head up!!! She is sleeping at least 2.5-3 hours at a time, which allows me to get some sleep thankfully. I am not as exhausted this time around, which is strange because you would think I would be more tired with little L to take care of. Ah well, the things you learn you can do when you have to. :)
I hope everyone is having a great week!!!

Introduction

Hello!
I thought I would take a second to introduce myself. My name is Kathryn, I'm 29, a teacher and a mother of two, a boy who is 2 1/2 and a girl who is 2 weeks old. I am also an army wife, my husband is a 1LT Combat Engineer in the Army Reserve. We are currently in our first deployment. Life can be very interesting and I thought I would use this blog as a way to vent my joys and frustrations of life, deployment and everything else.
I was looking online for any blogs of wives of combat engineers and wasn't able to find any, so if I can help anyone with this blog, that would be awesome. I welcome comments and getting to know new people, so feel free to comment or send me an email.
I hope you enjoy reading!!!
