Father's Day Recap

I know this was last weekend, but my recap is better late than never, right? :)
Father's day was spent a little differently this year. M was away at drill this weekend, so I already knew most of Sunday would not be spent together as a family. Usually his unit plans drill for Mother's Day weekend, but this year they did it on Father's day.
M got home around 6pm that night and decided he didn't want to go out to eat. He asked for steaks and pirogues. Thankfully I was already at the store and had everything I needed for the dinner but the steaks. I was a cooking machine. I grilled the steaks (I've become quite a good griller if I do say so myself) and made the pirogues. Everything turned out pretty darn awesome. We spent the rest of the evening just relaxing and watching movies as a family. He needed to relax as he was leaving the next morning for Vegas for work.
All in all it was a low key day. Nothing too exciting.

M hates cards, he doesn't see the point in spending money on them and I didn't know what to actually buy him (from the kids) this year. So, I've been trying to find cute ideas for the kids to make him something for Father's day. I think I did a pretty darn good job this year (not to toot my own horn or anything) :)

This was my inspiration from Pinterest:

And this is my final product. I had to adjust it a little seeing as I couldn't find the frame I wanted to actually replicate the Pinterest one.

The "we love you" are in blue glitter stickers. I love those stickers. :)

These are the pictures I used in the frame. I have to say the kids were awesome with this project. They each picked out their own outfits and were awesome when I was taking pictures. They even enjoyed making their hand prints and picked out the color for their hands.

All in all it was a good day. I would have liked to spend more time together as a family, but the Army had a different idea. Maybe next year we can go more all out for him. To celebrate what an amazing father he is to our two munchkins.
