Sad day for my mom and our family

Today my mom's special guy friend/boyfriend passed away this morning from liver cancer. The worst part is she is out of town currently. He has been having stomach issues for the past year or so. Finally a couple months ago they diagnosed him with liver cancer. He started chemo shortly after. Last Wednesday the doctors gave him the news that the chemo wasn't working and that they gave him 6 weeks to live. Unfortunately he went down hill quickly and lost his battle today. My mom is heart broken. She has basically been with him since shortly after she moved down here about 11 years ago. He has been a part of our family for so long, both kids know and love him. It is going to be strange not seeing him around anymore.
My thoughts and prayers are with my mom and Mat's family. I pray he is in a better place and no longer in pain.

Father's Day Gift

M and I have decided that Mother's and Father's day isn't for us to give each other gifts. It's more about us spending time together. I've always been big about giving cards at every chance I get. M isn't so fond of the cards (except for when he was overseas). So, this year I decided to make him a little something and it turned out great.

Here is the Pinterest inspiration.

Here are the pictures I used.
And here is the final product.

He really liked it. He actually teared up. I consider that a success. :) I'm so glad it turned out so great. I love when Pinterest projects turn out great. :)

Fathers Day 2013

Happy Father's Day to all of the daddies out there (even the fur daddies). I hope you all have a great day!

My husband and the kids on the left, My daddy and I at M and I's wedding on the right

I'm so blessed to have an amazing daddy of my own, as well as to be married to an amazing father. I am so lucky to have these men in my life and I can only hope that my son turns out half as great as they do. He has two great men in his life as role models.

M is out playing golf today, which is I'm sure where he wants to be. We celebrated Father's Day on Saturday as a family. I guess being in the military you get good at celebrating holidays on different days.

Again, I hope you all had a great weekend with your fathers, husbands, grandpas, etc.

Happy 4th Anniversary

4 years ago today M and I said "I do" in front of family at the court house. We had a quiet first few years together and while our reintegration hasn't been the greatest, I believe that God brought us together for a reason and that we are stronger as a couple today.
I love you M and can't imagine spending my life with anyone else. You are an amazing father. I'm so glad we have survived our deployment and can spend today together. I love you to the moon and back!!!

Booger's 4th Birthday

I cannot believe I am the mother to a 4 year old. It just doesn't seem possible. It seems like just yesterday we found out I was pregnant and now here we are 4 years later. We had a great little party for Booger. I cleaned both Saturday and finished up on Sunday. I was pretty proud of how the house looked by the time everyone got there.Anywhoo. As you know we woke Booger up together and went and had breakfast together, then picked up his cake. He decided he wanted a Nemo cake. So that is what we got. I ordered only a 1/4 sheet, M said it wouldn't be enough, but it was :).

Around 1 everyone started showing up. We invited most of M's family, my mom, grandma and our friends whose son is Booger's age. We had quite a few people packed into our little house. M had also invited his parents!!! I was shocked! When we called to invite them, his mom didn't seem one ounce excited that we were including them. She actually sounded like we were asking them to reinvent the wheel. Geeze people. Anyways. They came and basically didn't talk to us once and left early. Oh well, we tried.
Everyone else seemed to enjoy themselves. Our family friends and M's uncle even stayed after the party long enough to have dinner with us.

Even Pretty Girl got a new dress for the day (she wouldn't sit still for the picture)

Booger was quite spoiled. We asked for outdoor toys for him, and that is what he got. We are now the proud owners of multiple baseballs, footballs, a soccer ball, t-ball set, volleyball, and plastic golf club set. I think we are set on outdoor toys for awhile. :)

It really was a great day. Everyone (except M's parents) got along and I think enjoyed themselves. Booger was exhausted by the end of the day, but I think he was pretty happy with his birthday.

To me birthdays are important. It isn't so much about the presents, but that you are celebrating that person. M isn't so fond of birthdays and doesn't see the need for all of the fuss, but birthdays have always been HUGE in my family and I want to continue that with our kids. It's important for them to realize they are special and important and for one day, everything is about them. :)

Friday Letters

It's Friday again! This Friday is extra special for me, it's the last day of school. Not the last day of work for me, but at least the last day I am with this group of kids. I can't say I'm too sad to see these kids go. Most years there is a group of them that I am sad to see leave, this year, there really isn't anyone.

Time now for Friday Letters!

Dear School year: I am so so so so so glad that you are over. I am soooo looking forward to the summer!

Dear Summer: I have no idea what we are going to do this summer, but I am looking forward to spending some time with my husband and kids. Hopefully we can stay busy, but at the same time hopefully I will get some alone time to relax.

Dear kiddos: I do love you two so very much! You are the light of my life. You are too darn cute most of the time. I am so glad we have been able to play outside most nights. :)

Dear Finnerty family: My heart still breaks for your tragedy. I cannot believe this world has lost such a great person. My thoughts and prayers are with Cullen's wife and two young kids.

I hope you all have a great weekend. We don't have any major plans, but I am looking forward to playing with the kids and relaxing a little bit. Happy Friday y'all
